Development of M-2000, M-3000 computers, which were the first computers in the USSR with the third-generation architecture (IBM/360). Development and commissioning of the first in the USSR automated flight ticket selling network Sirena-1.

Computer network “SIRENA-1”

“Sirena-1” is one in the USSR computer networks.

It included the following:

  • central computer complex based on two M-3000 computers;
  • means for communication with users via standard channels;
  • magnetic drum external memory;
  • tens of regional computer centers based on M-6000 and M-7000 computers;
  • hundreds of remote cashier consoles;
  • network software.

For communication with the regional computer centers via 256 channels, special modules were used, each of which provided communication via 32 telegraph switched or dedicated channels of city telephone exchanges. The network provided communication of the computer complex with terminals at a distance of up to 8 thousand km at a speed of up to 1200 bauds. Up to seven tickets were sold per second.
