At 22 power units of NPPs in Eastern European countries, redundant control complexes SM-2M were commissioned. Basic components of the Microprocessor Instrumentation and Control System MSKU M were developed.

MSKU M is directed toward creation of fail-safe control systems with the distributed structure.

The MSKU M product range made it possible to design software and hardware complexes for instrumentation and control systems with the required configuration and reliability.

The creation of SHC’s software was limited to the process of arrangement and adjustment standard software tools from an all-purpose library of software modules. SHCs based on MSKU M ensured the implementation of the entire range of control systems, from single-loop regulation to adaptive control of complicated technological processes.

Both special industrial local area networks (LANs) and all-purpose Ethernet-type LANs were used for high-speed information exchange between components. A modular asynchronous reconfigurable network MAPS was used as a special LAN in MSKU M.
