Control and safety functions for nuclear power plant power units:

  • automatic and remote control of normal operation process systems;
  • control of neutron-physical and thermal-hydraulic parameters of the reactor primary circuit;
  • measurement of neutron power and reactor reactivity;
  • identification of initial events leading to disruptions in normal operation and control of power unit safety systems;
  • power reduction and reactor shutdown in response to warning and emergency protection signals;
  • monitoring of the technical condition and operating modes of process equipment;
  • monitoring of safety parameters and the condition of reactor systems during design basis and beyond design basis accidents (including those associated with severe fuel damage);
  • collection, processing, and storage of information about: the occurrence of disturbances in normal operation, accidents, and their development; actual algorithms of operation of systems important for safety;
  • actions taken by personnel to eliminate detected disturbances.

The functions are implemented using digital instrumentation and control systems (I&C) based on the MSKU 4M hardware and software platform, which includes: PS5140 and PS5150 series workstations; MSKU 4 series industrial controllers; communication equipment; software for various functional purposes.
