PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “PROBLEMS OF MODERN NUCLEAR ENERGY”
In April 2026, representatives of the SRPA «Impulse» took part in the 3rd International Scientific and Technical Conference “Problems of Modern Nuclear Energy”, organized by the Ukrainian Nuclear Society, the National Scientific Center “Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology,” and V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The conference brought together over 170 participants—scientists, representatives of Ukraine’s nuclear industry, and international partners.
Specialists from the “In-Reactor Control Systems” division presented reports “DEVELOPMENT OF A NUMERICAL METHOD FOR CALCULATING TEMPERATURE IN A FUEL ELEMENT TAKING INTO ACCOUNT GAMMA RADIATION ENERGY RELEASE FOR THE UKRAINIAN IN-REACTOR CONTROL SYSTEM” and “RECONSTRUCTION OF THE SPECIFIC ENERGY RELEASE DISTRIBUTION IN THE FULL-CORE VVER-1000 BENCHMARK USING THE NCC “ImCore”.”
The reports highlight solutions to problems in the application of the national calculation complex ImCore (developed by the SRPA «Impulse») for the modernization of in-reactor control systems (SVRK).
The first report presents a methodology for calculating the temperature field inside fuel assemblies of a VVER-1000 reactor unit. The upgraded algorithms for calculating temperature fields ensure increased accuracy and reliability of the NCC “ImCore”.
The second report examines the adaptation and validation of an approach to reconstructing core-wide power release in the NCC “ImCore” for a full-core model of the VVER-1000. The study uses the Full-Core VVER-1000 benchmark to verify the accuracy of the NCC “ImCore” in reconstructing the local power release structure under complex full-core configuration conditions. The practical value of the study lies in the verification and validation of the NCC “ImCore” for VVER-1000 reactor analysis tasks and the further refinement of pin-by-pin reconstruction methods, followed by comparison with reference Monte Carlo calculations.
The results of participation in the conference confirmed the correctness of the use of the NCC “ImCore”, as well as the relevance of completed and planned projects for the development of the SVRK.
