AUTOMATIC TURBINE CONTROL AND PROTECTION SYSTEM COMMISSIONED AT THE ARMENIAN NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

In September 2026, the automatic turbine control and protection system (SARZ) for Power Unit No. 2 at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant was put into trial operation.

The automatically controls the frequency and power of the turbines during both normal and emergency operating conditions of the power unit and the power grid.

The implementation of the SARZ will ensure increased efficiency, reliability, and safety of turbine equipment operation, as well as improved power control quality and operational stability of the power units through: optimization of control processes; expanded logging of parameters and events; and the use of modern, highly reliable technical means and advanced diagnostics.

The SARZ is implemented using MSKU-4 industrial controllers and PS5140 workstations.
