In June 2015, the instrumentation and control system for post-accident monitoring of the reactor facility with the subsystem monitoring the coolant level in the reactor was put into trial operation at Unit 2 of Zaporizhzhya NPP.
PAMS is designated for informational support of the operating personnel, of the group for engineering and technical support of the emergency work supervisor at site, assuring reliable information on the state of the critical safety functions and effectiveness of the protective barriers, as well as direct readings of the emergency instruments and meters during and after design and beyond design basis (including severe) accidents.
PAMS assures accident and post-accident monitoring functions with any initial events taken into account in the project, external and internal extremal impacts, as well as beyond design basis accidents with severe fuel damage, providing information on the main safety parameters in the conditions of maximum earthquake and complete deenergization.
