Ukraine is preparing for integration into the European continental power system. The integration process is rather long, according to the schedule - after year 2023.
Three units: 1 of Zaporizhzhya NPP, 2 of South-Ukraine NPP, and 2 of Khmelnitsky NPP are determined to be “pilot” for implementation of the standardized primary control of frequency (NPRCh) and active power.
“To make the integration possible, the quality of Ukrainian electric power must be at the European level. In the first place, it is determined with the allowance range of frequency deviations and the frequency restoration time in case of disturbances in the power system”, - told the Deputy Chief Technologist of Zaporizhzhya NPP Anatolii Shevchenko.
For the successful integration it is required to solve a certain task that consists in assurance of a balance between generation and consumption. According to the European standards, frequency deviation from 50 Hz must be not more than 0.02 Hz. The power system must not allow a larger deviation correcting generating power automatically.
To solve this task a branch conceptual solution was developed, the solution instructs to carry out the required work and measures in three stages.
Within the first stage, an instrumentation and control system of the turbine regulating system (I&C of SRT) with the already included algorithm of participation in the standardized primary control was commissioned at unit 1 of ZNPP. An electronic rate regulator has been installed on the hydraulic regulating system. A generator excitation system has been modernized.
During the testing of the NPRCh mode, unit 1 of ZNPP actually participated in the standardized primary frequency control during four hours. The testing results exceeded all expectations. The equipment is capable of providing the given mode with the characteristics better than those required by the normative documents.
Reference.
Synchronization of the Ukrainian power system with the European one (ENTSO-E) is a strategic sector of the bilateral cooperation of Ukraine and EU in the electric power sector.
To combine networks, it is required to research statistical and dynamical stability and to carry out several technical measures to provide complete synchronization. One of such measures is implementation of the standardized primary control of frequency and active power.
The main equipment assuring the standardized primary control of frequency at units 1 and 2 of ZNPP are I&C systems of the turbine regulating system (with the electronic rate regulator) manufactured by PJSC “SRPA “Impulse”.
