THE UNIT 1 OF THE KHMELNYTSKYI NPP WILL OBTAIN THE UPGRADED IN-CORE MONITORING SYSTEMS

Within the SE “NNEGC “Energoatom” program aimed at replacement of Russian fuel by the fuel manufactured by Westinghouse, the set of hardware and software of the upper level of the new generation in-core monitoring system SVRK-M2 for the Khmelnytskyi NPP has successfully passed the acceptance tests on the site of SRPA “Impulse” in March 2025.

SVRK-M2 ensures the following:

  • • monitoring “mixed” loads with fuel of any suppliers including loads with fuel rod assembly of a different fuel rod height;
  • • monitoring loads with fuel profiled in axial and radial manners;
  • • possibility to directly monitor linear power density at the fuel element level;
  • • electronic album of neutron-physical characteristics based on predictive functions of the system;
  • • informational support for an operator in power maneuvering modes.

The neutron-physical parameters of the reactor core are calculated using the software package “ImCore” (SRPA “Impulse”).

The acceptance commission consisting of the representatives of the Khmelnytskyi NPP, SNRI, and SRPA “Impulse” concluded: the presented set of the upper level of SVRK-M2 with the documentation fully meets the requirements set forth in TOR, regulations, rules and standards on nuclear and radiation safety including the requirements for cybersecurity, and is ready to be supplied to the Khmelnytskyi NPP.

SRPA “Impulse” is a leading Ukrainian designer, manufacturer, and supplier of highly-reliable instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power engineering and railways.
