20 COMPLEXES FOR MONITORING THE TECHNICAL CONDITION OF AKRO-B ROLLING STOCK ARE INSTALLED AT THE FACILITIES OF JSC «UKRAINIAN RAILWAYS»

SRPA “Impulse” successfully fulfilled the contract with JSC «Ukrainian Railways» for the supply of complexes for automatic control of the technical condition of rolling stock in motion.

20 complexes of equipment for remote control of moving units AKRO-B are installed at stations and stretches of the Odessa and Southwestern Railways. Following the results of two and a half months of controlled operation, it was decided to put the AKRO-B complexes into permanent (industrial) operation.

AKRO-B, a recent (2020) development of the SRPA “Impulse”, is a modern multifunctional complex of software and hardware for remote monitoring of the condition of the chassis of rolling stock and the construction of monitoring systems that can significantly increase the efficiency of identifying problematic rolling stock and increase the efficiency of its maintenance and repair. Each complex includes span (floor and post) and station equipment. Under this contract, spare parts kits for AKRO-B were also supplied.

AKRO-B has a number of advantages in comparison with the means of monitoring the condition of rolling stock of the previous generation, operated in Ukraine. The main advantages of AKRO-B include:

  • Increase the probability and reliability of detection of overheated axle boxes and braked wheelsets due to: temperature control of the most informative parts of axle boxes and wheel disks; the possibility of monitoring the condition of rolling stock both in the forward and in the opposite directions of movement in one set, without any restrictions; graphical representation to the station equipment operator of the temperature profiles of axle boxes and wheel disks (which makes it possible to improve the accuracy of determining overheating in complex cases, for example, with a partial overlap of the temperature measurement zone) and to exclude false alarms due to random short-acting "bursts";
  • Monitoring of up to four linear control points with one set of station equipment;
  • The ability to combine all line control points into a single system of centralization of AKRO-B;
  • Significant reduction in labor and financial costs for periodic maintenance due to the built-in self-diagnostic subsystem and automation of the calibration process;
  • The ability to expand the functions of AKRO-B (detection of wheel defects on the rolling surface, lower gauge control, detection of derailment of wheelsets and other functions) due to a modular architecture that allows you to integrate additional control subsystems into the complex.

SRPA “Impulse” is a leading Ukrainian designer, manufacturer, and supplier of highly-reliable instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power engineering and railways.
