WORKS ON SCB AND COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT RECONSTRUCTION ARE COMPLETED AT THE CHOP–STRUMKIVKA-UZHHOROD SECTION

In August 2025, the specialists of SRPA “Impulse” completed the works on SCB and communication equipment within the framework of the project “New construction of the railway track gauge of 1435 mm from the Chop station to the Uzhhorod station with reconstruction of infrastructure and engineering networks structures”.

The microprocessor centralized traffic control system MDC-U was put into constant operation at the Chop–Strumkivka–Uzhhorod section embracing four stations (Uzhhorod-1, Uzhhorod-2, Strumkivka, Chop) and the Strumkivka–Uzhhorod and Strumkivka-Chop open tracks. MDC-U includes modern workstations of a shift chief (ARM-ShN), a division engineer (ARM-ShChD), and a traffic operator (ARM-DNC) based on the PS5150 workstations.

The existing electric centralization posts were modernized; new equipment was installed as their part.

At the stations and open tracks, installation of tens of signals, point machines, and track circuits was performed while replacement of cable networks with the total length of more than 100 km took place. The open tracks were equipped with the following blocking signalling systems:

• 1520 gauge – the coded automatic blocking signalling;
• 1435 gauge – the semi-automatic blocking signalling with the axle counting system.

Old current distributing plants were replaced by: the power supply rack ShVRP (the Strumkivka station), the power supply system PKSEP (the Chop station).

On the Uzhhorod–Strumkivka open track, the rolling stock remote monitoring equipment AKRO was commissioned. The SDH standard communication devices were modernized.

This project is aimed at provision of sustainable traffic between Ukraine and the European Union. From now on, the passengers can continue their way from the Uzhhorod station to Slovakia, Czechia, and Hungary on trains of the European gauge (1435 mm).
