ACCEPTANCE TESTING OF RELAY PROTECTION AND AUTOMATION EQUIPMENT STARTING RESERVE TRANSFORMER AT SOUTH-UKRAINE NPP

At the end of November 2022, acceptance tests were successfully carried out for relay protection and automation equipment manufactured to equip a starting reserve transformer (power 63 000 kVa, voltage 150 kV).

The commission included specialists from the customer - South-Ukraine NPP and the supplier - SRPA "Impulse". The purpose of the tests was to determine the compliance of the relay protection and automation equipment with the design and operational documentation, of compliance with the requirements of technical specifications, current regulatory documentation, as well as assessment of its readiness for delivery to the South-Ukraine NPP.

The relay protection and automation equipment of the transformer consists of nine cabinets and panels with fifteen ImPR1 microprocessor relay protection and automation devices of various functional purposes, serially produced by SRPA "Impulse" according to specifications.

In this project, the replacement of outdated relay protection and automation equipment was implemented for the following functions:

• main and backup sets of protection;
• busbar differential protection and back-up protection on the high voltage side;
• signaling and control;
• differential protection of busbars of back-up power lines;
• cooling control automation;
• power supply circuits for relay protection and automation devices with direct current and others.

Tests carried out at the sites of SRPA "Impulse" and South-Ukraine NPP showed full compliance of ImPR1 with its functional purpose, requirements of technical specifications, regulatory documentation, as well as design and operational documentation.

In the final act, the results of acceptance tests were recognized as positive. In accordance with the contract and recommendations of the commission, the relay protection and automation equipment of the transformer was supplied to the South-Ukraine NPP.
